Top five tips for using Google+

After the Webmaster of GooglePlustips invited me to Google+ according to his promise on 6th July 2011 I have practically been trying out whatever new I can find in Google+. First of all thanks a lot to the Webmaster of this website and now I will like to summary 5 brief but important tips which a new user must know when he/she gets the invitation to this new social network of Google. Although the World Wide Web is filled with numerous tips about Google plus but here I would like to explain only the most important 5 of these tips.

Before starting I would like to mention that the main point where Google+ scores over Facebook is its privacy options. By default, every personal information and post of yours is private unless you decide otherwise. The main theme behind personalizing your contacts is the Circles feature of Google+. It lets you make a group (Circles) of your contacts so that you share something only with a selected group of people and not with all those in your Friend list. You can include a person in more than one circle according to your needs.

Sending private messages in Google+
It becomes quite clear from the above screenshot how you can send a group message by selecting one of your circles or to individuals by typing their names or email id.

To send messages you need to use the stream message, just take care that you send it to only those persons whom you want to.

Make a Google+ profile for yourself, your business or your blog
If you want a personalized Google+ profile for yourself or your blog then go to gplus.to and select a nickname and enter your Google+ id as shown as shown in the screenshot.

Note: You can make only one nickname for a Google account and for now I was not able to find any way to change it so take care to decide what you want to use as the nickname for your Google+ profile.

Inviting people to Google+
To invite more people to Google+ you need to first add them to your circle.
Click on the circles icon in top, now you can see a square bar as shown below to add persons to your circle. Use their email id to add them and also select the circle. After they get into your circle, select the circle and click on your friend's icon and then you will see a message to send them a invite as shown below.

How to remove a person from Google+ circles
Your entire contact list on Google+ is managed through the circles. To remove a person from + circles, first select the circle, then highlight the person and click on remove.
Like in the above image I have selected three persons and you can clearly see the option to remove them from my circles.
